We provide FULL TIME/and PART TIME programs Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Noah’s Ark Christian Learning Center exits for the child, caregivers, community, and church.
For the child: to introduce the child to the basic stories of the Bible and Christian practices, including worship and prayer; to provide experiences that will foster feelings and concepts which lead to a Christian life and foster awareness of God; to provide opportunities for being with other children in a program conducive to the development of wholesome social relationships; to provide appropriate play experiences that contribute to the developmental needs of the child; to provide opportunities for meaningful play that are based on that child’s individual needs, interests, handicaps, and abilities, and that will build important foundations for future reading skills and other academic pursuits.
For the caregiver: to provide support and resources to caregivers in being the primary Christian educators of their own children; to provide opportunities to meet with other parents, teachers, and other resource persons who have as their common concern the interests and needs of the preschool child.
For the community: to help meet the needs of the families for an early childhood education program committed to Christian formation; to contribute to the wholesome growth and future citizens of the community.
For the church: to provide a welcoming Christian atmosphere for families; to provide a missionary outreach to the community; to provide a Christian program for preschool children from The United Methodist Church and the community; to help meet the needs of the family by providing an early childhood education program; to share professional and developmental resources with the church family.
In 2024 we celebrated the 30th anniversary of Noah’s Ark Christian Learning Center, which started with a vision of a few members of our congregation. Although we had a thriving Christian education program on Sunday mornings, we felt we could offer more during the week. Our program started small with Monday-Thursday sessions for three- and four-year-old's. Ultimately, a Friday morning session was added, along with summer sessions. We were able to accommodate fifteen students per session.
The NACLC is a ministry of Tomah First United Methodist, with the pastor providing oversight of staff and daily operations. As a ministry of the church there is no rent paid. The program is independently run, with a board of directors of community members, parents, and church members. The church members have the majority, the director and pastor are members but do not vote. The board of directors oversees the ongoing commitment to continuing education and certification of the staff.
Events are held throughout the year with parental and congregational involvement encouraging further engagement.
Because the playground has always been a draw to this program, the all-inclusive playground was installed in 2021. The playground continues to attract families.
The program is a non-denominational faith-based program, utilizing the church in many lessons.
When the Tomah Area School District added a four-year-old kindergarten program, our program expanded to provide space for their needs. It was a great partnership that ended in 2024.
In 2019, to meet the needs of the community, we expanded to become Noah’s Ark Christian Learning Center to provide all day programing to include before- school-care and after-school-care. The parents in the community were looking for quality care for their children providing great Christian programing. We are currently licensed to serve fifty children at any one time. We have a competitive fee schedule. The program has a paid full-time director, and staff to cover the center’s needs.
We are proud of our rich history of serving the families in our community and are excited to continue to grow to meet those needs.
We are a Non-Denominational Christian Learning Center. We see this as a privilege and we are careful to make sure that means something other than in name. We also want to be doing more than highlighting God during Christmas and Easter. So, in addition to those special times , we start each class with a child's prayer. A Bible story is read each day and we pray before our snack. Of course books, puzzles and games are used that have a Christian theme. We also talk freely about God's loving us and how to love others. By doing these things we feel we are inviting God into each day and making him a priority in our student's lives.
